Reactivation Programs
Reactivation programs assist employees who are off work to develop the routine, skills, and strategies to recover and return to work successfully. Lost time can be costly to the employer and the employee. Investing in a structured reactivation program can reduce lost time and disability-related costs.
The Reactivation Process
Our Occupational Therapists start with a functional assessment to determine your employee’s current abilities, level of function, and recovery plan to develop a structured reactivation program.
Reactivation and Return to Work Program
This structured program is designed for individuals that have mild to moderate functional limitations due to mental health or physical conditions. The Occupational Therapist customizes a program to assist the employee in taking the steps needed to prepare for return to work. The program is focused on changing thoughts, behaviours, and routines to develop skills for sustainable return to work. It is work focused and provides the employee with the tools to be successful in the workplace once again. The interventions are evidence based using behavioural activation and psychotherapy such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and gradual exposure therapy. Our therapists coach and support the employee to get them back on their feet!
Trauma-Focused Reactivation Program
Trauma in the workplace can be debilitating if an employee does not have the tools, strategies, and training to manage the impact of that trauma. Our Occupational Therapists provide employees with support to manage trauma proactively and assist employees in returning to the workplace after experiencing traumatic events. These specialized programs are developed to assist employees with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Operational Stress Injury (OSI) in returning to work after a traumatic event.
This specialized program involves applying a customized approach to each individual and working proactively with healthcare providers to support the employee in gaining emotional regulation, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioural-based coping skills. A gradual in vivo exposure program is designed to work with the employee to return to the workplace successfully. The therapist also works with the manager and team to ensure the work environment and supports are in place for sustainable return to the workplace.
